Terms of Service

Last updated: October 17, 2026

1. About these terms

These terms are an agreement between you and Schiller Technologies LLC ("we" or "us"), which operates Gritling. They cover the Gritling mobile app and the parent web dashboard at parent.gritling.com. By creating an account or using Gritling, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, don't use Gritling.

2. Who can use Gritling

  • You must be at least 18 years old and live in the United States.
  • You must be the parent or legal guardian of each child you add.
  • Invite only another parent or legal guardian of your children. Anyone you invite sees all of your family's information, including chore photos.
  • Each parent has their own account and email address. Keep your password and parent PIN private. You are responsible for what happens in your account and in kid mode on your devices.

3. Children and kid mode

  • Children use Gritling only through kid mode, on a device you control and under your supervision. Children can't have their own accounts.
  • Before kid mode collects anything from a child, we ask for your consent as the Privacy Policy describes. You can withdraw it at any time.
  • You decide which chores, points, and rewards suit your family. Gritling doesn't give parenting, medical, or financial advice.

4. Points, screen time, and allowance

  • Points are a way for your family to keep score. They have no cash value. They aren't money, a currency, a gift card, or property. You can't buy, sell, or transfer them, or redeem them with us.
  • Allowance. When a child trades points for an allowance, Gritling only records the amount your family set. Gritling never holds, sends, or receives money, and it isn't a bank, a payment service, or a money transmitter. You decide whether, when, and how to pay your child, and the payment is between you and your child. Marking a payout as paid only updates the record.
  • Screen time. The screen-time timer is an honor-system countdown. It tracks the minutes your child has earned and spent, but it doesn't lock, block, or limit any app or device. Enforcement is up to your family. We are not responsible for screen time used outside the timer.
  • Deleting a child deletes that child's points, minutes, and allowance records. When the last parent in a family deletes their account, the whole family's records go with it. We can't restore them.

5. Free and Pro plans

  • Gritling has a free plan and a paid Pro plan. The app shows what each plan includes.
  • Pro is an automatically renewing subscription. You choose a monthly or a yearly plan. The app shows the price and length of each plan before you buy.
  • Payment. You buy Pro in the Gritling app, through the Apple App Store or Google Play. The store charges your store account when you confirm the purchase. We don't sell Pro on the web.
  • Renewal. Pro renews automatically at the end of each month or year until you cancel, and the store charges your store account for each renewal at the current price of your plan. To avoid the next charge, cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends.
  • How to cancel. On iPhone or iPad, open Settings, tap your name, then tap Subscriptions. On Android, open the Google Play app, tap your profile picture, then tap Payments & subscriptions, then Subscriptions. The Subscription screen in Gritling links to both. Canceling stops future charges, and Pro stays on until the end of the period you paid for. Deleting the app or your Gritling account doesn't cancel a subscription.
  • Free trials. If we offer a free trial, the app shows how long it lasts and when the first charge happens before you start it. A trial becomes a paid subscription unless you cancel at least 24 hours before it ends.
  • Price changes. If we raise the price of your plan, the store tells you as its rules require, and we also email you 7 to 30 days before the new price applies. You can cancel before then.
  • Refunds. Apple handles refunds for App Store purchases under its own policies, so ask Apple. For a Google Play purchase, ask Google, or contact us and we can refund it through Google Play.

6. Your content

  • You own what you and your children put into Gritling, such as names, chore titles, notes, and photos.
  • You give us permission to store, copy, process, and show that content to your family, and to let our service providers do the same, only to run Gritling for you. This permission is worldwide, non-exclusive, and free of charge. It ends when the content is deleted, except for copies in backups until the backups expire.
  • We don't use your content for advertising, sell it, or use it to train AI models.
  • You confirm that you have the right to share your content, including the photos your child takes. Chore photos should show the chore. Remind your children not to photograph other people.

7. Acceptable use

Don't:

  • Use Gritling for anything unlawful.
  • Try to get into another family's information or into our systems.
  • Reverse-engineer, scrape, overload, or resell Gritling.
  • Upload content that is sexual, violent, or harassing, or any content that exploits a child.
  • Use Gritling to monitor a child who isn't yours or in your legal care.

We may remove content or suspend an account that breaks these rules. We report child sexual abuse material to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, as the law requires.

8. App store terms

If you got Gritling from the Apple App Store, these points also apply. Send any question, complaint, or claim about Gritling to us at the contact details in section 15.

  • These terms are between you and us, not Apple. We, not Apple, are responsible for Gritling and its content.
  • Your license to use the app is limited and non-transferable. It covers Apple-branded devices that you own or control, as the App Store's Usage Rules allow, including Family Sharing.
  • We alone are responsible for maintenance and support of Gritling. Apple has no obligation to provide any.
  • If Gritling fails to meet a warranty that applies to it, you can notify Apple, and Apple will refund the price you paid for the app, if any. Apple has no other warranty obligation for Gritling. Any other claims, losses, or costs from a failure to meet a warranty are our sole responsibility.
  • We, not Apple, handle any claim about Gritling. That includes product liability claims, claims that Gritling fails to meet a legal or regulatory requirement, and claims under consumer protection or privacy laws.
  • We, not Apple, handle any claim that Gritling infringes someone's rights.
  • You confirm that you aren't in a country under a U.S. government embargo or one the U.S. government has designated as supporting terrorism. You also confirm that you aren't on any U.S. government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
  • You must follow any third-party terms that apply when you use Gritling, such as your wireless carrier's.
  • Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms, and Apple can enforce them against you.

If you got Gritling from Google Play, Google Play's terms also apply to your purchase.

9. Ending your account

  • You can delete your account at any time in Family settings, in the app or on the web. The Privacy Policy explains what deletion removes.
  • We may suspend or close your account if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms, or if the law requires it. Where we can, we will tell you first and give you a chance to fix the problem.
  • If we stop offering Gritling, we will email you at least 30 days before, so you can ask for a copy of your family's information. If you have paid for Pro time we can no longer provide, contact us and we will help you request a refund from the store.

10. Disclaimers

We provide Gritling "as is" and "as available". To the extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We don't promise that Gritling will always be available or free of errors, or that information will never be lost. Gritling doesn't replace your supervision of your children.

11. Limits on our liability

To the extent the law allows:

  • We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits or lost data.
  • Our total liability for all claims about Gritling is limited to the greater of $50 or the amount you paid for Pro in the 12 months before the claim.

Some states don't allow these limits, so they may not apply to you. Nothing in these terms limits liability for gross negligence, willful misconduct, or fraud, or any right you have under a consumer protection law that can't be waived.

12. Disputes and governing law

  • Talk to us first. Before you file a claim, email support@gritling.com and describe the problem. We will try to resolve it with you within 60 days.
  • Small claims. Either of us may bring a claim in small claims court in the county where you live or in Dane County, Wisconsin.
  • Courts. Any other claim goes to the state or federal courts in Dane County, Wisconsin, and you and we agree to those courts' jurisdiction.
  • Governing law. The laws of Wisconsin and applicable federal law govern these terms, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. If you live in another state, you keep the protections of its consumer laws that can't be waived by agreement.

13. Changes to these terms

  • We may update these terms. We post every new version here with a new date.
  • For a material change, we email you at least 30 days before it takes effect. If you don't agree, you can delete your account and cancel Pro before then. If you keep using Gritling after the change takes effect, the new terms apply.
  • A change never applies to a dispute that started before the change.

14. General

  • These terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and us about Gritling.
  • If a court finds part of these terms unenforceable, the rest stays in effect.
  • If we don't enforce a term right away, we can still enforce it later.
  • You may not transfer these terms to anyone else. We may transfer them to a company that acquires Gritling.
